Seasonal Volunteers Needed!
We are in need of some extra help! We have a few openings for our seasonal volunteer opportunity. Seasonal volunteers come in for a weekly three hour shift to help with dishes, food preparation, and cleaning, just through the busy spring season.

WHOSE SEA LION IS IT ANYWAY?

A provocative  presentation for your professional organization or association!

The Marine Mammal Care Center of Los Angeles is a hospital for sea lions that treats an average of 400 patients every year. That’s more than one a day! 

This program has been created to alert your members on how these animals will impact their cities and county.

We Need Gift Shop Volunteers!

Love retail and have a few extra hours you’d like to spend helping your favorite sea lion hospital?  The gift shop at Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles is busier than ever, now that Spring has arrived (along with lots and lots of patients)!

We are searching for a few gift shop volunteers for weekends and occasional weekdays. Our gift shop is open daily from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Duties include:Make sure the gift shop is organized, clean, and stocked with items before opening and after closing • Operate a cash register • Attend a mandatory volunteer training course to become familiar with Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles in order to respond to basic questions about the sea lion hospital • Experience in retail is a plus, but not required • Work a minimum of one four-hour shift per week

Seal Day is coming fast!

If you haven’t been to Los Angeles County’s year-round sea lion hospital, Seal Day is the day that you will want to visit!

Seal Day festivities will feature outdoor animal viewing, live music, food trucks, games for kids and dozens of booths from a wide range of community organizations.

This year’s theme is Halloween in June, complete with professional costumed visitors, a Trunk-or-Treat experience with world famous Star Cars– vehicles from stage and screen, and a costume contest for those who come dressed for fun!

Join us at the Columbia Memorial Space Center with tons of STEM activities & special guests! This festival will host dozens of cool STEM organization like Virgin Orbit, the Natural History Museum, JPL and Tesla, along with our very own Mobile Visitor Center!

Education Volunteers Needed!

Education volunteers carry out the essential role of interacting with the public. Education or office background is a plus, but not required. 
Training is done in-house by the education staff. 
Education volunteers commit to a weekly four hour shift for at least one year.

AHOY!

We are doing a combined program with 3 other non-profit science organizations on April 20th: Los Angeles Marine Institute (Tall ships), Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and Bird Rescue.  It’s a simple approach – we will be jointly publicizing that we are all open that day, will have information on each of our work, will have a San Pedro Marine Science Day map, and a late afternoon sail on one of the tall ships.
