Since we opened in 1992, Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles has been a year-round hospital in Los Angeles County for seals and sea lions.  We’ve been open every day for 25 years.  That’s more than 9,000 days and counting!

MMCC LA treats sick, injured and malnourished seals and sea lions that are rescued from north of Zuma to Seal Beach.

MMCC LA is one of 8 facilities in California that have permits from National Marine Fisheries Service to carry out the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972.   Our staff and volunteers have decades of combined experience in providing medical treatment, housing and food for these protected mammals.
